ENROLLMENT

A person is eligible for membership in the Chappaquiddick Wampanoag Tribe if that person can by documentary and other forms of evidence show the following:

(a) Direct Lineal Descent. Enrollment eligibility for The Wampanoag Tribe of Chappaquiddick is determined through direct lineal descent to an ancestor identified on the Briggs Report of 1849 or the Earle Report of 1861.

 

(b) Live on or Near Chappaquiddick. Those who are submitting an application have for at least the preceding twenty years prior has lived on or near Chappaquiddick including within any of the six Island towns on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts,  or have family members who currently reside on the Island actively involved in Tribal community affairs. Further, the applicant must not be enrolled in any other Tribal entity or band.

(c) Wampanoag Tribal community action involvement and respect for intellectual property of Tribal members lived experience on the land. 

 

Applicants are required to provide a copy of their birth certificate and valid photo ID at the bottom of this form.  When attaching each document, please format your files to match the examples below:
